Every child is a storyteller –and in Destination: INSPIRATION, they learn how to bring it out! Our performer, author Jason Edwards, doesn't do those the author lectures the kids kinds of shows. We believe that children LEARN BY DOING, so Jason has developed an assembly program that reviews the fundamentals of story creation and then draws upon the students' own inspirations to collectively create and act out a story right there on the spot! This riotously entertaining, highly-interactive program is as limitless and creative as children’s imaginations because kids of all ages and levels of ability create characters and make up lines of dialog in this interactive, improvisational adventure No reading or writing skills are required for this assembly program. Slapstick humor abounds as Jason acts out the group’s narration, and he provides prompts, hints, and encouragement when it is time for children to deliver their lines or determine the next event in the plot. It may sound complicated, but virtually any child can successfully take part in this activity due to the clever scripting and the astounding improvisation skills of Mr. Edwards, author of Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective and its sequel, Will Allen and the Ring of Terror. After the assembly program has introduced the elements of great storymaking, the next step is to practice putting it all together. Jason follows up the assembly program by visiting classrooms with writing workshops in which he builds upon the concepts touched upon in the assembly performance and guides each student through the process of creating his or her own amazing stories! Every child writes a fantastic fable right then and there! These programs have been performed at dozens of schools and over 100 venues including the Southwest Florida Reading Festival, the Arkansas Literary Festival, the NYS Reading Association Literacy Festival, and the Hudson Children's Book Festival, and Jason’s improvisational skills, madcap antics, and gift for engaging young audiences have received overwhelming acclaim. Additionally, Jason provides ongoing feedback even after the programs are over - he remains available to the students and their teachers via e-mail, Skype, or Facebook.
