CSI-Forensic Use of DNA in Criminal Investigations

You've seen how they use DNA to solve crimes on TV shows like CSI and NCIS, but how do they really do it? In this workshop, participants will investigate a crime scene and conduct a hands on DNA extraction using the same process used in crime labs. By the end, you'll actually see the DNA with your naked eye. This is an interactive session for (nearly) all ages.

Weird Science

Science! Everyone loves it! In this workshop, we'll create a mini-science museum in your space so everyone can explore their love of science through hands-on activities and strange science experiments. The event can be tailored to any specific age group (adults vs kids) and will feature activities like investigating magnetism, tornado tubes, static electricity, or left/ right hand preference. We'll also discuss some of the strangest scientific studies ever published including "The Use of Cows as Earthquake Detectors", and "The Personalities of Robot Vacuum Cleaners". The exact content of the session will be tailored to your specific group, but some do experiments travel long distances better than others. Dr. Pyatt is happy to work with you to design a session that's prefect for your group.
